Professor Nicolas Martin is a Clinical Professor in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Sheffield (UK). He has a stong personal research profile as a principal investigator in relevant collaborative muti-disciplinary projects, with a focus on sustainability, pedagogy and the clinical performance of restorative systems. Within the field of sustainability research, he is currently leading on a number of major funded projects: The environmental impact of dental restorative materials; A baseline study of the plastic waste in medical and dental healthcare; Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) of dental restorative materials; Waste management from dental amalgam in municipal water systems; and Plastic packaging in healthcare. He leads on University collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the World Dental Federation (FDI) on sustainable dentistry.
