Oral Health and Healthy Ageing: Prevention and Integration in Long-Term Care SystemsThis webinar covers system-based approaches to oral health in long-term care, explores long-term care insurance and UHC models such as Japan’s, and shows how FDI’s OHAP resources can support prevention, early detection, and integrated care for healthy ageing.
This webinar provides an overview of system-based approaches to improving oral health in long-term care settings. It examines how different models of long-term care insurance and universal health coverage — including Japan’s well-established framework — can strengthen access to preventive services for older adults. The session also highlights how FDI’s Oral Health for an Ageing Population (OHAP) resources can be leveraged by policy makers, dental and other healthcare professionals to promote prevention, support early detection of oral diseases, and integrate oral health into broader healthy-ageing strategies.

In some countries, mobile dentistry services are already avaliable to provide on site oral healthcare for edeely patients, particularly those in long term care settings. in your view, how important is this model in the context of healthy aging, prevention and integrated care systems?
Have you considered including in one of your protocols or policy suggestions and recommendations to integrate a qualified oral health professional such as dental hygienists as a regular member of the long term care team as dietician This could support preventative care provide staff education etc. ?
