Originally from South Africa now based in the UK, Vanessa is a Stanford University Medicine X e-Patient Scholar. After surviving MRSA during an extensive facial reconstruction, she applied her marketing skills of 18 years to advocate online. Vanessa advises the South African Antibiotic Stewardship Program and ASPIRES (Antibiotic use across surgical pathways: Imperial College London), she is also a Civil Champion at the Africa CDC and a patient advisor to the WHO Strategic Technical Advisory Group for AMR (STAG-AMR). She also won the FIND Voices for Diagnosis Award and Antibiotic Guardian Community Communications Award.
