Adhesive dentistry: Tips for obtaining the maximum performance of materials in the clinicCurrent adhesive resin materials are variable in their bond procedures according to the components, such as “etch & rinse”, “universal type”, and “2-step self-etching type”. The bonding mechanism of each bonding material will be explained for understanding the keys to obtain their maximum performance in the clinical application. Furthermore, the filling technique of composite resin also influences the sealing ability of the restoration because of the polymerization shrinkage stress. Even with a high performance adhesive resin materials, gap formation in the cavity is easily propagated. The clinical procedures to obtain the perfect cavity sealing are also indicated. Marginal enamel fracture also occurs when the marginal bevel is not appropriately applied. The comprehensive information including material science and clinical issues are discussed for providing the tips to obtain maximum performance of the adhesive restorative materials in the clinical situation.
Learning Objectives:
