Dr. Wendy Thompson
Dr Wendy Thompson is an academic general dental practitioner at University of Manchester. Her research interest is antimicrobial stewardship and urgent dental care. She is lead author of FDI’s white paper on dental antibiotics and lead educator of the accompanying on-line course. Wendy is consultant advisor to Chief Dental Officer (England) and a member of various national and international committees.
Ms. Vanessa Carter
Originally from South Africa now based in the UK, Vanessa is a Stanford University Medicine X e-Patient Scholar. After surviving MRSA during an extensive facial reconstruction, she applied her marketing skills of 18 years to advocate online. Vanessa advises the South African Antibiotic Stewardship Program and ASPIRES (Antibiotic use across surgical pathways: Imperial College London), she is also a Civil Champion at the Africa CDC and a patient advisor to the WHO Strategic Technical Advisory Group for AMR (STAG-AMR). She also won the FIND Voices for Diagnosis Award and Antibiotic Guardian Community Communications Award.
Dr. Katie Suda
Dr. Suda is a Research Health Scientist with the U.S. Veterans Health Administration and Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pennsylvania. Dr. Suda’s research is focused on outpatient prescribing using population-level datasets. Dr. Suda is lead investigator on U.S. federal grants focused on prescribing patterns by dentists and implementation strategies to improve prescribing.
Dr. Susan Sutherland
Dr. Sutherland is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto, Canada, and, until recently, Dentist-in-Chief at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, with a practice focused on medically complex patients. She is the Founding and Past President of the Canadian Association of Hospital Dentists, the Dentistry Lead for Choosing Wisely Canada and a member of the Advisory Committee of the AMRNetwork, a project designed to develop plans for a coordinated One Health response to antimicrobial resistance in Canada.
